He then gave a shout out to purple-clad SEIU members among the crowd of more than 13,000.
There and at subsequent events in Salem,Eugene and Medford, Obama
sounded the themes to his campaign that have electrified so many
Americans and led SEIU to endorse his candidacy.
SEIU believes an Obama presidency will "achieve economic justice,
quality, affordable healthcare for every American, the freedom for
workers to unite in unions, and an end to the Iraq war."
It was a fitting kickoff for SEIU 503’s efforts on behalf of Obama, U.
S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley and Oregon Attorney-General candidate
John Kroger in the primary. Members will be going door-to-door and
staffing phone banks to elect worker-friendly candidates.
