Child Care Providers Meet and Confer

Providers shared what it's like to try to make ends meet on less than two dollars an hour , what it's like to care for kids when you are sick and can't see a doctor, and what it's like for parents who can't afford the co-pay and fear that getting a small raise at work will cancel their subsidy from the state.

State officials listened as part of the meet and confer process mandated by the Governor. The meeting was the first time in Oregon's history that exempt childcare providers have had the opportunity to meet face to face with thosewho run the state child care program and begin the process of making change.

Providers around the state were in attendance, and discussed a variety of issues, like how and when we get paid to a parent's right to choose who cares for their children.
