Highlights of the OUS Agreement

  • Bereavement Leave: Adds "grandchild" to definition of "immediate family" for whom bereavement leave may be taken.

  • Sick Leave: Adds "grandchild" and "domestic partner" to definition of "immediate family" for whose care sick leave may be taken.

  • IT Comp Plan - Guaranteed Performance Evaluations or Raises: Within 30 days after a supervisor has failed to complete a performance evaluation for an employee, the employee can request HR involvement. If the supervisor has still not completed the performance evaluation within 90 days after the employee's Salary Eligibility Date (SED), the employee will automatically receive a raise at the "Meets Standards" rating, retro-active to the SED.

  • Military Service Leave Donations: Spells out employees’ right to make donations of vacation leave to other employees serving in the military for use as extra pay.

  • On-Call Duty Pay: Ensures that OSU ship crew members receive on-call duty pay while assigned on-call duty at a non-home port.

  • Email Info: Work Email Addresses added to monthly data employer provides to union.

  • Education, Training, and Development Joint Process: University and Union representatives to meet upon request of either party to discuss the application of education, training, and development provisions in the contract (Article 63) at each campus.

  • Criminal Background Checks Policy Implementation: Requires management to pay for background checks when they are required by the policy and/or management.

  • Campus Dispatchers: 10% over base rate, if required to receive and successfully complete specific tele-communicator training.

  • Protections against contracting out: Exceptions to the requirement to provide feasibility studies to the Union are narrowed.

  • Ensuring Service Quality: Adds "service quality" to "costs" as factors in contracting out feasibility study.

  • Standardized Feasibility Study Information: The parties will jointly develop a form to serve as the standard describing information employer is required to provide to union when producing a feasibility study.
