OUS Office Worker Selective presentations postponed

Apr 10, 2007: In the last round of bargaining we won language to force OUS to do a classification study for Office Specialists after raising significant concerns that the OS classification series did not adequately reflect the work being done. Nearly 25% of the OUS bargaining unit are in two OS classifications. We were to get their findings at the beginning of April.

We did not receive the report in a timely manner, nor was the report what we expected. They sent us a compensation study for OS workers. Rather than analyzing whether the two OS classifications sufficiently represent the diversity of work being done, the study analyzed compensation issues.

Not surprisingly, the study takes the position that there are no problems with OS compensation. Since time is needed to analyze their data and identify the short-comings in their analysis, we are notifying OUS management that we will not be making our Office Worker presentations on Thursday, April 19.

We are asking for additional dates and will reschedule our presentations for a later date.

As soon as we secure a new presentation date, the information will be passed along.
